Wǒ bú huì shuō zhōng wén means I cannot speak Chinese. In China people automatically assumed that I could speak Chinese which I can’t. I felt estranged for not being able to speak it. I felt guilty for not starting to learn it sooner. I felt bad because if I hadn’t left I would have know. All I could say is that I couldn’t.
